DILI (10 Dec 2011) – The ASEAN zone qualifying round of the AFC Futsal Championship 2012 will now be held on 21-26 February in Thailand at the Krungthep-Thonburi Indoor Stadium.The eight-team tournament had been scheduled to take place in early December but was postponed due to logistical difficulties caused by the heavy flooding in Bangkok.
Hosts Thailand are in Group A along with Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines while Group B consists of Australia, Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam with the winners of each group playing the runners-up of the other.
The two finalists and the winner of the third-place playoff will advance to the 2012 AFC Futsal Championship finals which will be held in the UAE in May.
